R U OK? Day

R U OK? Day is on the 9th September 2021.

R U OK? is a national campaign to raise awareness and change behaviour. This campaign was started by Gavin Larkin, who wanted to honour his father’s memory and protect other families from the pain his family endured after losing his father to suicide.

R U OK? Day is a chance to think about and have conversations with a friend or family member if they seem to be having trouble. These are skills that you can use at any time to help a friend or family member.

R U OK? Day helps you think through how to have the conversation and how to help a person when they are experiencing difficulty. This includes:
  • Learning the signs of when you should ask ‘R U OK?’,
  • How to get ready to ask the question
  • How to pick the moment to ask
  • What to do after the conversation.

On Monday 13 January 2025, Nexus transitioned to a governance structure led by SCCH. While both organisations remain separate entities, they will be governed by the same board, and Nexus’ Chief Executive Officer will report to SCCH’s Chief Executive Officer, allowing the organisations to better explore the potential community benefits of a merger.
