Peter Donlon Chairperson

With tertiary qualifications in medical science, information technology and governance, Peter initially worked at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in infectious diseases, and then moved to the water sector where he had senior roles in water quality, industry and environmental management, research, customer service, community engagement and communications.  Peter has extensive experience both as a board member and working with numerous boards.

Having also spent decades of his life in regional Victoria, Peter is acutely aware of the needs of regional communities.  He is heavily involved in local community development including community health.

Peter is passionate about the vital role communities and community organisations can play in building social capital, improving overall health and wellbeing (in particular, mental health and chronic disease), and the wider acceptance of marginalised groups.  He also loves spending time with his family and enjoys photography and travelling.

Janelle Parry Deputy Chairperson

Janelle, a resident of Sunbury since 2002, is passionate about the provision of quality community-based services and is continually inspired by the staff and volunteers of the organisation and their dedication to help build a stronger, healthier and connected community.

With tertiary qualifications in accounting, Janelle is a registered tax agent, supporting individuals, families and small business within her local community for over 25 years.  In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, snowboarding and mountain biking with her partner and spending quality time with their two Burmese cats.

Mary Rush Director

Former Chair of Sunbury Community Health, Mary is now happily retired with work experience in cost accounting and clerical duties in news media and publishing, tertiary education, consulting, and a variety of volunteer roles in the community.

As a member of the Committee of Management of Sunbury Community Health and inaugural Board Chair of the first Board of Management, Mary has witnessed changes in the health and community services field over many years.  She is a strong advocate of good governance as well as local community owned services that can provide or connect people to quality, affordable, timely and appropriate care.  She is passionate about ensuring that the community health model of care continues to provide, maintain and develop local health and community services.

Aside from volunteering with Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health she spends as much time as possible with her family and friends.  She also loves to read widely, travel and learn new things and has a wide range of interests.  She is a member of Essendon Football Club, the National Gallery of Victoria and the State Library.  For relaxation, Mary is an avid knitter.

Matthew Stewart Director

With tertiary qualifications in nursing, Matthew completed a graduate year at the Alfred Hospital.  For over 20 years Matthew has worked in medical and surgical areas in hospitals whilst holding management positions.  For the last six years he has worked in primary care in a GP clinic in Gisborne.

Matthew is a member of the General Practice Expert Advisory Group and the Clinical Council at the North Western Primary Care Network where they provide advice, support, and insights in addition play a key role in guiding provision for primary care and quality improvement initiatives.

He has been involved in the local community for over 20 years including volunteering at local football and netball clubs, 1st Gisborne Scout Group, Gisborne and District Lions Club and the College Advisory Council Sacred Heart College Kyneton.

Matthew understands that it is important that community health services provide locally based affordable health and social care as well as targeted services for vulnerable population groups.  He also loves spending time with his family and enjoys Australian Rules Football and travelling.

Bruce Marshall Director

Bruce is a professional working in the local government sector, with over 12 years of experience in roles relating to economic development, place making, investment attraction and more recently smart cities.  Originally from a small farming community in Western Victoria, he has been a resident in Sunbury since 2012 where he appreciates the combination of rural life-style and connectivity to inner Melbourne.

Bruce has a keen interest in the concept of ‘place’ and in particular how people, businesses and community groups connect and support each other through the cycle of life.   In 2018 Bruce received a scholarship to visit Japan to conduct a study tour into the phenomenon of Japan’s transition into a ‘super-aged society’ and possible lessons to learn for Australia with a report published in the Economic Development Australia Journal.

As a father of two primary school aged children, he is passionate about the local community and the work delivered by Community Health.
